Viktor
Kertész was born in Budapest, Hungary, on March 04, 1942,
is married and lives in Budapest.
He obtained his M.Sc.
degree in electrical engineering from Budapest University of Technology
in 1966, Ph.D. in 1976, and D.Sc. in 1989. He joined the High-Power
Laboratory of Electrical Power Research Institute, Budapest, as
a researcher and test engineer in 1966. He became a professor of
mathematics at the Budapest University of Technology in 1979 and
has held the chair of full professor since 1989. He has had a working
cooperation with KEMA since 1978, and has been a consultant for
KEMA in the field of circuit breaker measuring problems, analysis
of arc phenomena, and some high power testing related problems since
1996. He has been awarded ‘The Science, Education and Technology
Division Premium’ of IEE in 1996. He was a member to CIGRE
WG 13-01 (arc modeling). He is a member of CIGRE TF A3.01.
His interest is circuit
breaker testing and measuring problems, the mathematics of dynamical
systems, and application of mathematical and computer tools in engineering
problems. He wrote a big number of publications and presented lectures
on SF6 circuit breakers testing and measuring, on dynamical systems
and related subjects. His activity has been research and development
in the mentioned fields.
